The bilge pump automatically senses water in locations where it shouldn't be and initiates pump actions without manual intervention. It's able to do this because it functions on the principle of impeller resistance. It will turn on every 2-1/2 minutes for about one second to sense for water. Ideal for smaller crafts, the bilge pump is easy to install and doesn't use much power when idle.
